James was born and raised in Southern California. Early in High School he discovered a love for expressing himself through writting when other avenues were not available. He started with short stories and poetry, moving on to novel length stories. He eventually had his first novel, Sutherlin Alliance published in 2002. He has several more novels completed as well as having had many of his poems published.

James' primary writting influence comes from the Star Wars Thrawn trilogy written by Timonthy Zahn. He has also found direction from such authors as Michael Stackpole, Chris Claremont, and Tom Clancy. His love for their character interaction and fast paced sequences are evident throughtout James' writting.

James still lives in Southern California with his wife of 10 years. He works as a computer-aided drafting manager and writes every chance he gets. He and his wife are planning to adopt in the near future.
